The SARDEG will rely upon state-of-the-art technologies in ICT to
guarantee performance and scalability, offering a flexible
environment allowing addition of new packages and provisions, and
enabling changes and improvements made to suit the requirements of
SARDEG. The strategy is to have a platform that takes into account
the broad services and facilities SARDEG is offering, including
hosting of grassroots community web sites, online advisory services
and ranges of databases.
In the process of adopting
technologies and applications the existing systems of the country
gateways will be taken into consideration so that the existing
contents, technologies, and applications from the country gateways
can be integrated to the optimal level keeping in view the
technological approaches of the country gateways.
However, based on the preliminary discussion and research, it is
tentatively proposed that the SARDEG portals are to be developed
using Active Server pages, MS SQL Server 2000 and InMagic at the
back end. Use of emerging web services infrastructures and open
source applications based on XML and Microsoft.NET are considered.
Taking advantage of the paralleled scalability and reliability of
Microsoft SQL Server™, Inmagic provides a breadth of content
management solutions. Incorporation of standards such as XML and
SOAP ensure that Inmagic can interoperate with other content or
information management products that may be deployed throughout the
Gateway.
