Access, sharing and timely
availability of accurate data and information is of paramount
importance in facilitating the planning process and decision making,
towards achieving national and global development goals, building a
knowledge-based society and hence reducing ignorance, poverty and
disease. Enhancement of knowledge, information sharing and access to
relevant information, removes barriers to equitable access of
information on economic, social, political, health, cultural,
education and scientific activities. This goes in hand with the
Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and World Summit on the
Information Society Declaration of Principles and Action Plan.
SARDEG will thus serve as a one-stop developmental information
clearinghouse and a platform for networking, information, knowledge,
and experience exchange in the target countries of South Asia.
