Sustainability of SARDEG will depend on the growing market awareness
of ICT in the target countries and potential for acquiring a
sizeable market share. The Governments of Bangladesh, India Nepal,
and Sri Lanka, development partners and the private sector, within a
collaborative partnership, can provide funding for either the whole
project or a specific product that is of interest to them. In this
regard, the prior commitment from the State Rural Technology
Promotion Council, Assam (as indicated in the budget) as the
initiating agency is noteworthy.
SARDEG will work with active partners
in sourcing funding, which might be in forms of in kind contribution
or cash. These include the private sector, civil society,
governments, academic institutions and development partners the
region.
The sustainability strategy includes looking for more partners that
are active on development issues, approach the Governments of
Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, the private sector and
international development agencies, target local and international
users who might be able to finance through partnerships. SARDEG will
also generate revenue through its offline services, which include
ICT related training, consultancies, website designing and hosting.
Contributions in kind from stakeholders and partners will also
contribute towards sustainability.
